One of the Florida Standards that I found was one that expects us to, "identify appropriate technology to achieve a project goal" or in layman's terms, pick and choose which form of technology would be helpful to complete a project or assignment. It's basically telling teachers that they are expected to be able to teach students how to choose between different types of technology to help them, whether that's a Google search, looking up a tutorial video, or even a list of steps to take to achieve a goal. I feel pretty prepared to be able to teach this to children in classrooms, as it largely depends on both how the child learns best and on what they are trying to look up. I feel that that is something that I can easily help them with, especially considering the young age I intend to teach.
When looking at the Florida Standards for kindergarten music, I found 6 different resources, which while not as plentiful as some of the others, provide different ideas and links to help teach the class at an appropriate level. I don't think that I would ever just take the lesson plans that they came up with, but I could definitely see myself adapting the plan to something more suited for my teaching style. For example one of the plans is to create a chant for the classroom rules in order to make them more engaging and easier for the students to remember. I'm not a huge fans of chants, but I could easily see myself writing a short song that we would sing at the beginning of each day to remind us of the rules and to wake them up a bit.
Learning how to search the internet quickly and safely is a highly important life skill, especially as a teacher. Teachers need to be able to search and find answers for questions they or students may have in a timely manner, and must also be able to determine which resources are factually correct. One of the resources that we covered in class that I find myself most likely to use is the Google Advanced Search, which eliminates many of the distracting, and often incorrect, material that may otherwise cause a disturbance. I don't believe that I search in any way that wasn't covered in class, but I do find myself more likely to look under Google Images or for YouTube video results when at all applicable because being able to see and fully visualize the results of whatever I'm searching for is far more likely to be of benefit to me than a paragraph of words that I fail to fully digest.
Now for artificial intelligence. I believe that AI is an incredible tool, but one that should be used carefully and responsibly. It has the potential to be an amazing teaching aide both in and out of the classroom, but there are a lot of ethical dilemmas surrounding AI. I find myself believing that AI should be used in moderation throughout the classroom for little things like visual aids, or as a class activity to paint a picture or tell a story through the AI image options. AI is an incredible tool, and an amazing creation, and while it has some negative connotations an stigmatisms attached, I find it more important that everyone be able to navigate it and safely use it than flounder about helplessly as it becomes more and more prevalent in today's world.
