Blog Journal #10
From the 5th assignment on PowerPoint I learned to utilize the button features that allow for fast travel between slides, something that I had never understood before now. I liked being able to create an interactive lesson that I could share with others in the form of a playable game! I wasn't a huge fan of how my PowerPoint refused to sync up between devices, so I ended up needing to re-create the whole thing, but that just goes to show that computers are not infallible. I think next time I would stick to only working on one device so that I could spend more time working on one project rather than re-creating the same one.
The most likely way that I would use data collection tools would be as a quick, easy way to take math tests, or to gauge opinions on how much my students like my class. In teaching kindergarten I don't see a whole lot of ways to utilize the technology side of education in my classroom. Most students will be around 4-5, too young to really be using the internet by themselves. A quick online test to review or study wouldn't be so bad, though.
One technology related skill that I would like to develop would be a better understanding of ClassDojo! It seems to be incredibly useful both inside and outside of the classroom, and I would like to see how it fully functions in person. Ideally I would accomplish this in the first month or so before my first class started, but knowing technology I will still be learning new things months or maybe even years in! I would start by getting a class so that I could actually create the ClassDojo account, before watching YouTube videos on the subject, setting it up the best I can, and being open to new information that others may be able to provide me!
